In a note to a wonderfully gifted multimedia instructor the other day, I wrote:
Did you ever get the idea that digital, multimedia is a type of renaissance or adventure with a bunch of unknowns being discovered along the way? It is more like... what more *can* I do, how can I use these items and make something exciting and different? It is the box of 120+ crayons, with the metallic gold, silver, and copper. [the larger crayon box always excited and tempted me when I was young... I was not happy with only the basic 24... :) ]
I still like more colors, choices, and working to see what can be done to stretch beyond basics or limits.
With color in mind:
Is your system supporting standards colors? Over at the International Color Consortium(ICC), color.org website there is a test to see if your system supports the latest ICC colors. PDF and HTML formats available.
easyRGB, is one of the most versatile color tool sites I know. Color matching, harmonies, search tints, calculate color... for web, print, wall paint matches and more. EasyRGB now offers up EasyRGB-PC Software.
A few other Color Oldies but goodies:
The Visibone Color Lab and downloadable Visibone Color Swatches: for your graphic and web authoring software.
Netscape Named Colors: a larger choice of web safe colors than our standard set of web safe color triplets.
moreCrayons: a larger set of web colors to choose from, 4096 colors by cube or slider.
Color Blender, Eric Meyer made this handy tool which allows the mixing of colors. For tints or monochrome lovers, pick one color choose black or white as the second color and find up to 10 color blends from those choices. The color swatches and their numbers will display below the tool. Download the page or copy source to the desktop for use while offline.
for another set of tools, see my previous Color Tools entry
